A doula is a person who has training and experience with pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care for the birthing person, the child, and the family.
A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support. These services can greatly increase the possibility of a positive outcome for all involved in the birth process because medical personnel seldom are available to provide the physical and emotional support to the family.
I embrace individuals from diverse backgrounds without any preconceived notions or biases. I refrain from passing judgment on others, valuing each person for who they are. Your unique perspectives and unconventional ideas are welcomed, as I am open-minded and flexible in tailoring my approach, using my 35+ years of experience with families, birth, and children to suit your preferences. Rather than imposing expectations, I am committed to collaboratively crafting a personalized care plan that aligns with your needs and aspirations.
Please refer to the contract or contact me for full details.
Absolutely!
As a birth facilitator, my goal is to respectfully allow the people involved in the birth process to have the best possible experience. I will observe how you and your partner interact and follow your lead with practical guidance.
A doula does not give any medical advice and/or treatment. A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support.
Ideally, at least 3 months before the due date. When you decide to hire me as your doula, a 50% non-refundable deposit of my fees are required at signing of contract to secure your due date on my calendar.
I am a mother of four accomplished, independent, and caring adult children. I have a professional background as a massage therapist since 2001. Additionally, I received doula training at Seattle Midwifery School at Bastyr University's Simkin Center in 2001, and I recently refreshed my skills in 2021 to stay current with best practices. I bring over two decades of experience in providing holistic well-being. In the early 2000s, I actively supported around half a dozen births, contributing to my hands-on experience as a doula. Additionally, my journey includes extensive expertise as a nanny, spanning several decades, which has deepened my understanding of family dynamics and strengthened my ability to offer compassionate care. Now, with my children grown and more time available, I am reigniting my passion for doula work to dedicate myself to supporting others during this transformative and special time in their lives.
I stand ready to support families facing unexpected or challenging birthing situations by providing comprehensive assistance that encompasses physical, informational, and emotional support.
The two visits after the birth are designed to assess how well the family is adjusting to this completely new experience. Additional services can be provided with a postpartum doula contract.
Absolutely! After the signing of our contract, I will be available to you via text and calls 24/7 (within reason) to answer quick questions or provide reassurance.
The cost is defined in the contract, I am open to considering a sliding scale on a case-by-case basis. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at signing of the contract, the rest of the payment is due two weeks prior to the birth (or at 37 weeks of pregnancy). Should you require a payment plan, this will be pre-negotiated and input into the contract at the time of singing.
Absolutely! As I focus on offering emotional, physical, and informational support, I do not provide medical care or legal advice. I am committed to working in harmony with medical providers to advocate for the family's well-being.
